The Direct Pulp Capping procedure is defined as the procedure done to the placement of a biomaterial over an exposed coronal pulp after caries excavation.
Steps in Direct Pulp Capping:
- Removing the decay
- Adding sedative material: Once the tooth is cleaned, the pedodontist will add a sedative material to protect the pulp from bacteria until the dentin can repair itself
- Filling the cavity: A temporary filling material is placed to strengthen the tooth and allow the patient to chew and bite normally
