Tooth Extraction is a Dental procedure in which a tooth is completely removed from its socket.
Indications for Tooth Extraction:
- Severe tooth decay
- Fractured tooth
- An impacted tooth
- Severe crowded tooth
- Severe gum diseases
- Trauma or tooth injury
- Mobile tooth
Tooth Extraction-Procedure:
Your dental surgeon will give local anaesthesia to numb the tooth and surrounding gum area. Using specialized instruments called elevators and forceps, they will pull the tooth out of the socket. Sometimes, if there is no tooth structure, incisions around your gums may be needed to access the tooth. Once the tooth is removed, the socket is cleaned and disinfected. The dentist will apply pressure on the socket to control bleeding. Sometimes suturing is needed to close the socket.
