Procedure
- The procedure is performed under the influence of sedatives, to make sure that you do not feel any pain and discomfort.
- A blood-thinning medication is administered to avoid the risks of clotting
- You will be required to lie down on your back and a flexible tube, known as a catheter, will be introduced via the groin using a tiny needle.
- A dye may be injected into the patient's body for better visibility during x-rays.
- The catheter fitted with a balloon on one of its ends is guided towards the affected area.
- Once it is in position, the balloon is inflated to open the obstruction.
